A Chance at Freedom.

At the Battle of Bull Run we will look a little closer at the Slaves who fought in this war. Nowhere in the American History books can you find the truth about the American slaves contribution to both sides in the civil war.
In this post a Slave that fought at Bull Run will speak.
On Sunday morning July 21, 1861 a Slave by the name of John Parker and three other men open fire on Union forces, the group which was operating a cannon could not see the Union Troops, they only fired at random. Parker and his men had never experience war, and were terrified. The war was all around Parker and his men.He said he felt like he was going  to die every minute. Parker and his men depended on each other for survival because you see they were four Slaves ordered by there master to fight for the Confederates.

The Confederates had a problem in trying to force the Slaves to fight, they were in the fight physically but they were pulling for the Union  Troops to win.The only way to keep the Slaves fighting were the fear of being shot by there White officers.

Slavery did not figure into the first Battle of Bull Run, but infact the Battle loosened the bonds of Slavery. The Battle reveal that both sides saw the Slave as a Military Asset. When the North saw Black Slaves fighting at Bull Run The US Congress in August 1861 passed the Confiscation Act.   Blacks fought on both sides in the American Civil War.

When I got into  Blogging on the Civil
War I was going to write only on the Battles, but I soon found out that the Black Slave and the Freeman Soldiers was in every Battle of the American Civil War.

Read and understand American Black History.
