A myth.

One of the big myth about slavery is that slaves enjoyed being slaves. When I was in school and taking U.S history, the pictures I saw in my history book was of slaves laughing, singing and having fun. But what slave owners did not know this singing, and laughing were codes for how the slaves could escape slavery. Now I read that some states want to erase slavery from school books. What a tragedy that would be. Americans should never forget that slavery built America. A race that forgets its history is bound to repeat it.
